Students are graded using competency rubrics. During each course, students are given assignments to determine their knowledge, skills and competencies. Since the goal is for students to become practicing professionals, the primary emphasis of evaluation is on their competencies. Rubrics for each assignment are designed to accommodate 5 levels of competency:
1 = not acceptable; student work must be completely redone; student will be retested
2= barely making it; work requires revision and re-evaluation of key deficiencies
3= acceptable; minimally acceptable; meets assignment criteria and no more
4= competent; work is succinct and accurate; applies the relevant content effectively
5= practice-ready; work demonstrates synthesis of F2F content with assigned readings & clinicals
All work needs to be completed at a minimum of Level 3. All work at Levels 1 or 2 must be redone or revised until it achieves Level 3 or above. If there are multiple assignments that fail to achieve the minimum criteria, a student may be advised to engage some remedial work.
At the end of each 100 hour Level, students receive a progress report. Remedial work may be arranged at the students’ expense for private coaching by the faculty.
