Technology required for iHHS hypnotherapy training
De rigueur for any professional practice. A computer is obvious. The need for audio and video recording equipment becomes obvious as the course progresses.
Computer with Internet access
PC or Mac. PCs generally have fewer problems accessing certain objects on web pages.
• The iHealth web page and course materials are optimized for Internet Explorer. Other browsers likely work as well, but if problems arise IE should be available.
• Most computers come with a CD/DVD burner. Learn to use it before the course begins. Students are expected to produce audio and video recordings of their clinical practice to be evaluated by iHHS faculty.
Audio recording
• Digital Voice Recorder – Hypnotherapists often make recordings for their clients that reinforce work completed in sessions. Students need a recorder with: minimum 32MB capacity, the ability to record or convert files to .WAV and MP3 formats, and downloadable to a desktop computer for editing.
• Sound editing software is available free to download from the internet (Start your search by Googling Audacity). iHealth Center uses Audio Studio by Sound Forge.
Video Recorder
Video recording is very helpful for self-study during clinicals. Students will also be expected to conduct practice sessions at home, videotape portions of those sessions, and submit the recordings to iHealth Center staff for ongoing evaluation.
Video editing has become much more accessible, but remains a fairly specialized skill. Therefore, you will submit unedited video recordings. We can currently view video in Video8, Digital Video 8, and DVD.
Expect to develop your technical capabilities throughout the course. There will be instruction on selecting and utilizing appropriate software and hardware. You will also receive detailed instructions for using technology to complete assignments.
